Major Changes announced for Australian Citizenship
1. Applicants will need to achieve a IELTS level 6 equivalent of English.
2. Applicants will need to be permanent residents for four years before they can take the test. This is being increased from 12 months.
3. They must also demonstrate that they have integrated into the community.
4. Citizenship test can be attempted only three times after which a ban of 2 years will be imposed.
The above mentioned changes need to passed in the Parliament. Once the proposed changes are passed in the Parliament, these will apply to all Citizenship applications lodged from 20 April 2017. Contact us for further details.
